Description

You've probably already noticed but I am drawing more species of flowerling for fun. Drawing traditionally is better ever since I got those sharpie pens, and my traditional art seems to be getting better. Yet, I hope you people like this drawing :)

First of all, a nice work:

I really like the different shades of green and almost green/blue that you used to create the high grass and the tail of Buttercupling.

I assume the similarity in colors is no coincidence but to aid the creature in hiding/becoming one with his surroundings?

I do think this drawing would have lend itself to be more bold with your shading skills: playing with more light and dark colors, would have given the head more 'dimension' so to say, make it 'separate' more from the background.

Thing is, you are starting to do exactly that, but you are still too careful with it: I see in the neck and the lower side of the beak shading is present and it is already becoming 'dimensional' because of it but I yearn for more <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>

My advise to you: Try and be more bold with the shading. Don't practice it in works like this, but practice it with shapes like the head, or the neck. when you mastered it on shapes a few times, you can automatically apply it in more complex drawings like this, and you find yourself doing it without even thinking about it...
